There are games playable on our smartphones in which we are able to use a physical controller with. Given that there are some games that don’t play as well using touch controls, this is a welcome feature. In fact if you’re looking for a way to enjoy mobile gaming while using a controller, Sony might have something for you.

Dubbed the X-Mount, as you can see in the image above what this does is that it basically mounts your smartphone on a Sony PlayStation DualShock 4 controller. It’s not a particularly complex setup but basically if lets users see the screen of their phones while using the controller which could be more comfortable (and portable) than propping it up using something else.

While the page mentions Sony’s Xperia phones, given the design of the mount and clamp, we imagine it can probably be used with other smartphone brands and models as well. Unfortunately Sony does not mention pricing or availability, although based on the translation it seems that they are aiming for an early June release.

However given that the page is in Japanese, there is a good chance the launch could be limited to Japan but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.
