NVIDIA first released the Shield Experience 7.0 update for the Shield TV a couple of weeks ago. This firmware update brings Android 8.0 Oreo to the set-top box. However, the company had to stop the release due to multiple issues. It has taken a few weeks to fix those issues and NVIDIA has now confirmed that it’s rolling out the update for all Shield Android TV users.

The issues that surfaced after the update was initially released forced NVIDIA to send the update back to development. Despite that, the version that it’s rolling out today doesn’t come with the latest security patch, it retains the May 2018 security patch.

NVIDIA has started rolling out the Shield Experience 7.0 update today for all Shield Android TV users. The update is being sent out over-the-air so users should expect to receive a notification soon if they haven’t already. The update weighs in over 1GB.

Android Oreo for the Shield TV brings a brand new home screen which combines all entertainment options like streaming media, video-on-demand, live TV, and games in one place. Some user interface improvements have been made as well to further enhance the user experience.

Those who haven’t received an update notification as yet can manually check for the Shield TV Oreo update by heading to About > System Updates in the Settings menu.
