Despite being so old, there is still a huge demand for Mattel’s Hot Wheels lineup of toy cars. As if to make it even more appealing, it seems that Nintendo and Mattel have recently both teamed up to unveil a new series of Hot Wheels cars that will be based on none other than the Mario Kart franchise.

Yup, if there was ever a video game and toy collaboration that made a ton of sense and would be a perfect fit, this would be it! This was recently announced with plans for the toys to make an appearance at Comic-Con this week where if you are attending, you will be able to check it out at either Nintendo or Mattel’s booths.

Unfortunately if you were hoping to get your hands on them, you’ll be disappointed to learn that you’ll be waiting for a while. This is because the toys are only expected to be released in 2019, or to be more specific in June 2019. They will be sold at $4.99 per toy which isn’t particularly expensive and presumably the lineup will include the characters pictured above.

It is unclear if there will be more characters added at a later date, but then again these are pretty much all the classic characters that most gamers are familiar with so it makes sense that they will be part of the lineup.
