Huawei, one of the fastest growing Android smartphone manufacturers, has given some details about its roadmap for the Android Pie update. Google released the Android 9 Pie update a few weeks ago and it’s now up to OEMs to roll it out for their devices. Huawei will be unveiling its Android Pie-based EMUI 9.0 custom skin at IFA 2018.

The first step of Huawei’s Android Pie roadmap is to unveil the custom skin at IFA 2018. Once EMUI 9.0 is public at the upcoming convention, it will then start rolling out the update to compatible devices.

Huawei will obviously prioritize flagship devices which will receive this update first. The Huawei P20 series will be the first to receive EMUI 9.0 with all features of Android 9 Pie being part and parcel of the update. It’s unclear at this point in time if Huawei will release the update for the P20 series immediately after IFA 2018.

Once the P20 series gets the update, Huawei will then release it for the Mate series. It hasn’t said when that’s going to happen. The company hasn’t confirmed the roadmap for other devices even though it has plenty of smartphones that are fully compatible with Android 9 Pie. It will update users about the EMUI 9.0 release status for those devices in due course.
