Huawei has officially unveiled the Mate 90, Mate 90 Pro and Mate 90 Pro Max in China, introducing upgraded silicon, enhanced durability, and larger batteries. The standard model runs on the Kirin 9030 processor, while the Pro model debuts the new Kirin 9035 chipset, bringing hardware-level ray tracing and a 51% boost in NPU capability. The Pro Max version sports the Kirin 9050 Pro SoC.

Huawei Mate 90
The first two devices feature a 6.75-inch flat OLED display built with Xuanwu construction, incorporating third-generation Kunlun glass and internal nylon fiber. The Mate 90 Pro features a dual-layer OLED structure reaching up to 12,000 nits peak brightness (1% APL) paired with a 3D ToF face-unlock system. Each smartphone carries comprehensive IP68 and IP69 ratings for water submersion, high-pressure liquid resistance, and wet-hand touch functionality.

Huawei Mate 90 colors
The shared camera architecture is powered by the XMAGE imaging system and a third-generation Red Maple color sensor that increases color accuracy by 37%. Both flagships house a 50MP RYYB primary camera featuring an adjustable f/1.4–f/4.0 variable aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). They also include a 50MP telephoto periscope (4x optical zoom, macro support) and a 40MP ultrawide lens. The software offers AI composition guides, product-tracking live-stream modes, and 3D dynamic photo generation.

Battery life is backed by a 6,600 mAh battery on both regular and Pro models. The base Mate 90 supports 66W wired charging, while the Mate 90 Pro increases wired speeds to 100W fast charging. Both accommodate 50W wireless charging alongside an outdoor power-saving mode extending standby operation up to 15 days.

Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max
Sitting at the top of the lineup is the camera-centric Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max, which introduces top-tier hardware and modular imaging capabilities. Powered by the flagship Kirin 9050 Pro processor on 16GB models, it upgrades to an expansive 6.9-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED display (2848×1320) boasting 12,000 nits local peak brightness and Kunlun Glass protection.

Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max
Its photography hardware is headlined by a 50MP main camera (1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.4–f/4.0 variable aperture), a 40MP ultrawide, and an industry-leading 200MP periscope telephoto lens delivering up to 100x digital zoom alongside the 3rd-generation Red Maple color engine.

Huawei Ruiying Z10 Camera Module
The Collector’s Edition uniquely supports the optional Huawei Ruiying Z10 modular camera, attaching a 1-inch RYYB sensor with 10x continuous optical zoom (24–240mm focal range). Under the hood, it packs a larger 6,800 mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, complemented by Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, eSIM, and dual IP68/IP69 ratings.
Running natively on HarmonyOS 7, the devices integrate BeiDou two-way satellite messaging supporting image transmission in mainland China. Security is managed by an integrated Mobile Security Processor featuring post-quantum cryptography and real-time AI voice-changer detection.
Pricing and Availability
The standard Huawei Mate 90 starts at CNY 5,999 (~$895) for the 12GB+256GB model, while the Mate 90 Pro starts at CNY 6,999 (~$1,045). The Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max starts at CNY 9,499 (~$1,417) for the 12GB+512GB variant, climbing to CNY 12,999 (~$1,940) for the 1TB Collector’s Edition.
Global release plans remain unannounced, but we know that the Chinese brand usually releases its phones outside China with EMUI (based on Android 16) instead of the more advanced HarmonyOS 7, so the global variants may have some differences in terms of specs and features.
