If there is one thing that Blizzard loves to do is host events in their games to celebrate certain occasions. For example in World of Warcraft, Blizzard celebrates events like the Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas, and more, which is why it wasn’t surprising to see Blizzard bring those traditions to Overwatch.

In Overwatch, Blizzard has launched several events, one of those being the Summer Games. For those who have been looking forward to the 2018 Summer Games, Blizzard has recently announced via the official Overwatch Twitter account that the Summer Games will be kicking off on the 9th of August.

As expected of the Summer Games, it will also see the return of Lúcioball which had previously taken place in Rio de Janeiro and Sydney. However with 2018, Blizzard will be taking players to Korea, or Busan to be more specific. Given how popular Overwatch is in Korea, especially in the competitive scene, it’s not surprising to see Blizzard tip their hat to one of their larger player bases.

In addition to seasonal games making a return, there will also be new skins that players can look forward to and other event items which will most likely be detailed leading up to the event’s launch, so mark your calendars if you’ve been anticipating it.
