T-Mobile has a habit of taking steps that get a lot of traction in the media and its latest step is no different. The mobile carrier announced this morning that it’s going to give everyone free in-flight data on labor day. By everyone it doesn’t mean all of its subscribers, it means even those who are Verizon, AT&T, Comcast, and Charter customers.

The carrier says that it will give these customers 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi for smartphones on all domestic flights equipped with the Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi service. For one day, on September 3rd, all customers will be able to experience the incentive that T-Mobile subscribers get.

“Only T-Mobile gives customers free Gogo Wi-Fi just for being a customer and now, they’re sharing the love with the masses – because T-Mobile wants everyone to experience a little magenta status,” the company says.

All T-Mobile One customers get a free hour of smartphone Wi-Fi on all Gogo-equipped domestic flights in addition to other incentives which include free messaging, visual voicemail, and text throughout the entire flight. Customers with the T-Mobile One Plus plan get free Wi-Fi for the entire flight.

Other travel benefits extended to T-Mobile subscribers include unlimited texting and data in more than 210 destinations in addition to 5GB of high-speed data on trips to Canada or Mexico.
