Flying a drone sure looks like fun, and if you’re a photographer or videographer, then you have probably seen the cool aerial shots that you could take using a drone, shots that you might not have otherwise been able to pull off save for hiring a helicopter. However drones don’t always come cheap which can be a bit off-putting for some.

The good news is that if you shop frequently on Back Market, then you’ll be pleased to learn that the online marketplace has announced that they will now start selling refurbished drones. For those who aren’t familiar, Back Market is an online marketplace known for selling refurbished electronics. There is a difference between second-hand and refurbished, where the latter is usually sold as-is, while refurbished means that it has been cleaned up and fixed before it is sold.

It still isn’t considered “new” per se, but it should be in relatively better condition. According to Thibaud Hug de Larauze, founder and CEO of Back Market, “Drones have reached a maturity level similar to mobile phones and computers that has resulted in a strong secondary market for refurbished models. Expanding into the refurbished drone market allows us to bring a more affordable option to hobbyists and professionals, but also gives consumers a reliable alternative to get ahead of the e-waste impact we will likely see as this market grows.”

Back Market will be selling various brands of drones including those from DJI. The company claims that the DJI Mavic Pro can be bought refurbished at 37% cheaper than a new model. It is possible that second-hand/used models could be cheaper, but if you wanted a used drone that is in better condition, then refurbished could be the way to go.
