When you think of epic fantasy stories, there’s a good chance that J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series comes to mind. As you might have heard, Amazon is currently adapting the books into a TV series, but that’s not all because now it appears that the company will be adapting another epic fantasy series for TV.

The company has reportedly ordered a TV series based on Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. Now the idea to create a series based on the Wheel of Time novels isn’t new, although in the past we have seen such projects get cancelled due to a variety of reasons, but now it looks like we could be seeing some progress on it from Amazon.

For those unfamiliar, the Wheel of Time series has to be one of the biggest and longest running fantasy stories. The series spans fourteen volumes and it took so long to write that Jordan actually passed away before he could complete it. However Jordan had planned for this and had actually left detailed instructions so that his story could be completed, which it was by Brandon Sanderson.

Given the breadth of material, it is unclear as to how all of this will fit into a TV series, although we guess Game of Thrones is a good example of adapting books for TV. There’s no word on casting yet, but the series will see Rafe Judkins as the executive producer and showrunner.
