There are many companies whose leaders have kept a relatively low-profile, but there are some who are so intertwined with the company that you think of them when the company is mentioned. Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime is one of those people as he not only helped to found the company, but he also acted as its president for the past 27 years.

However all good things must come to an end and in an announcement on Blizzard’s website, Morhaime has announced that effective immediately, he will be stepping down as president of the company. He will also be replaced by J. Allen Brack, who for those unfamiliar has helped lead the World of Warcraft team and who has been at Blizzard for almost 13 years.

Morhaime also stated that he will be serving as an advisor to the company moving forwards. He adds, “In the words of one of Blizzard’s core values: remember to always play nice; play fair. I know this community is capable of changing the world. It has been an honor to serve this community for over 27 years, and I thank you for your many years of support. I look forward to being a member of the community alongside you. See you on Battle.net!”

We expect that more details will be shared at BlizzCon 2018 where Morhaime is usually the one who does the opening keynote, so we can only assume that this will most likely be his last.
