Just like how there are some people who fear that their plane will suddenly stop and fall from the sky, there are some who are worried about drones as well. Given that some of these drones are heavy, clearly having them fall on you or a random stranger from a great height is a danger that’s hard to ignore.

Unfortunately for some, it seems that their fears are coming true because according to the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) (via Engadget), they body has recently issued a safety warning in which they are claiming that there are some DJI Matrice 200 drones that have been reported to have suddenly lost power mid-flight and are falling out of the sky.

Now before you go ahead and blame the pilot for now charging their drones or ignoring low power warnings, it seems that these problems are occurring even though the drone’s battery still has charge left in it. Thankfully there have not been any reports of any kind of injuries as a result of the falling drones, although we imagine that most of these drones have been damaged after falling from such heights.

DJI has since issued a statement acknowledging the issue in which they state that their engineers are currently looking into it. “DJI is aware of a small number of reports involving drones in the Matrice 200 series that have lost power mid-flight. Flight safety and product reliability are top priorities. Our engineers are thoroughly reviewing each customer case and working to address this matter urgently.”
