Fortnite’s In-Game Tournaments are now live. They were introduced to the title with the release of v6.10. They can be found in the new “Events” section of Fortnite Battle Royale. They have been opened to everyone which means that each and every player can now compete directly alongside pros for prizes and bragging rights. Players will have to opt-in for crossplay to participate in these events.

Each tournament will have scheduled dates and times during which it will be conducted. All players will begin with the same score in every tournament and compete over hours of intense competition to earn as many points as possible. Points can be earned either by achieving high placements or eliminating multiple opponents.

Players will be paired with others that have similar point standings through matchmaking during a tournament session. Those who are playing well within the session will be matched with stronger opponents. With In-Game Tournaments, Epic is bringing players into a single competition as equals regardless of their platforms so that it can place a “single shining spotlight onto the world’s best players.”

It has observed the performance of controller players in prior tournaments against mouse and keyboard players. It found that controllers players can be successful while competing against some of the best Fortnite players on PC.

More information about the tournament schedules is available on Epic’s website.
