With Netflix enjoying a fair amount of success adapting Konami’s Castlevania into an animated series, it wasn’t surprising that they were looking to expand their efforts in which back in 2017, they announced that they would be making a series based on “The Witcher” where it would cast Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt.

Now in a video teaser posted onto Twitter, Netflix has shared a first look of Cavill in a costume and makeup test for his role in Geralt. For the most part save for the hair and the slightly glowing eyes, it still very much looks like the actor, although we have to say that he certainly does look the part. It’s hard to tell what the rest of the costume looks like for now as it was pretty dark.

Unfortunately we don’t really have much to go on given how brief the video was. However it should be noted that The Witcher series launched on Netflix will not be based on the video game by CD Projekt Red. Instead it will be based on the original books written by Andrzej Sapkowski, which was what the game was based on, so what you might know and love from the game might not necessarily be carried over into the series. There is no word on when the series will be released, but 2019 does seem like a pretty safe bet.
