Misfit has launched a successor to its first touchscreen smartwatch. The Misfit Vapor 2 has been announced today and it’s going to be available for purchase soon. The new smartwatch costs $249.99 which is $49.99 more than what was charged for the original smartwatch last year There’s not a lot different but the addition of two key functionalities might justify the price hike for some.

The Misfit Vapor 2 has a standalone GPS. Its predecessor required a smartphone connection for the GPS so this addition will certainly be appreciated. There’s NFC support on the Misfit Vapor 2 as well.

The design itself remains largely similar to the original smartwatch. The specs are similar too as the same Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor is being used. The display does show slightly more pixels per inch, though.

Misfit offered the first-generation Vapor in 44mm size only. The new one can be purchased in 41mm and 46mm sizes so there’s a size now for customers who prefer a smaller watch. Customers will be able to purchase the Misfit Vapor 2 in eight different colors combinations which include a rose-tone case with a rose beige sport strap and a black case with a black sport strap. The watch straps are interchangeable so they can be switched up as and when required.
