Nokia 9 PureView Will Be HMD Global’s Next Flagship

HMD Global, the home of Nokia-branded smartphones, is yet to confirm when it’s going to launch its next flagship smartphone. It was expected that the device would be out later this year but there’s no sign of it as yet. However, a reputable source has revealed that when it does arrive, the company’s next high-end device will be called the Nokia 9 PureView.

If PureView sounds familiar it’s because this branding has been previously used for Nokia smartphones. The Finnish company first used it for the Symbian-powered 808 PureView and for some Lumia models powered by Windows Phone.

When Nokia’s smartphone division was acquired by Microsoft the branding’s ownership also went to Redmond. It was reported in August this year that HMD Global has acquired the PureView brand from Microsoft. This suggested that perhaps the company is planning on using this branding once again for new smartphones.

Today’s report mentions that HMD Global is going to call its next flagship smartphone the Nokia 9 PureView. Leaks suggest that this device may have five cameras at the back. It’s claimed that the company will soon kick off the marketing efforts for this device. This is contrary to reports that the device has been delayed to MWC 2019. We may get to see it before the end of this year after all, if there’s any truth to this latest report.
