Fallout: New Vegas is one of the more loved titles in the Fallout franchise and was developed by the folks at Obsidian. However if you are hoping that Obsidian might return for a Fallout: New Vegas 2 or another Fallout title in general, it seems that you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up just yet.

Gamers have tweeted at the company asking if there are plans to return to the Fallout franchise, in which Obsidian responded by sharing a photo of an 8-ball that says, “Very doubtful”, indicating that gamers probably shouldn’t expect to see an Obsidian-made Fallout title anytime soon, if ever.

Given that Bethesda has seemingly taken over publishing and developing duties of the current Fallout titles ever since Fallout 3, we suppose it doesn’t really come as a surprise that they don’t plan on outsourcing development. It is rather disappointing since many loved New Vegas, and Obsidian has mentioned many times in the past that they are interested in making another Fallout game. All of this seems to suggest that it’s entirely out of their hands.

That being said, Bethesda has had great success developing Fallout titles so it’s not exactly a bad thing that they are continuing to work on it. Fallout 76 will be the latest title in the franchise and is currently set for a release on the 14th of November, 2018.
