We know that Samsung has a smartphone with a foldable display in the works. However it seems that the company’s ambitions for its foldable displays will extend beyond smartphones and will be making its way into future laptops as well. This was confirmed by none other than Samsung themselves during an event in which they unveiled their new Flash laptop.

According to Lee Min-cheol, vice president at marketing for PCs at Samsung, “Like foldable smartphones, Samsung is collaborating with display makers to develop laptops with foldable displays that will not just simply fold in and out but create new value and user experience, amid the changing market trends for laptops.”

The idea behind a foldable display for smartphones is that it would allow users to have a device that can fit into their pocket, but can also be expanded into the size of a tablet if the user needs a large display. We imagine that this could be the same concept behind a laptop with a foldable display, although we’re not sure how this will work given that a laptop’s keyboard isn’t foldable either.

Perhaps Samsung could be thinking of creating a laptop like Razer’s Project Valerie where additional displays could be unfoldable to give the user an ultra wide screen experience.
