SoundCloud is great for discovering music from established and upcoming artists and the company is now making it easier to share your discoveries on Instagram. Starting today, tracks from SoundCloud can be shared directly to Instagram Stories. The only caveat here is that the tracks are shared as a link which will show up in Stories.
What that means is that you can’t actually listen to that track within Stories. Users will have to tap on the “Play on SoundCloud” link and as the name suggests, they will then be redirected to SoundCloud app where they will be able to listen to that track.
What this does more than anything is provide artists with a simpler way of sharing their SoundCloud tracks with their Instagram communities easily. The artists can add links to their tracks on SoundCloud to their Stories. The listening will take place elsewhere so this is only really for promoting music that lives on SoundCloud.
It eliminates the workaround that users previously relied on to get the word out about their SoundCloud tracks. They used screenshots which just didn’t look right. To use this new feature, just find the track you want to share and then use the Share icon to select the Instagram icon. The link to that track will then be placed in the user’s Instagram Story.
