Earlier this year Xiaomi’s Black Shark gaming smartphone was launched, but the company decided that the handset deserved a follow-up a few months later which has since resulted in the Black Shark Helo smartphone being announced. This is the latest smartphone in the Black Shark lineup and comes with various improvements over its predecessor.

For starters the phone will be maintaining its 6-inch display, however instead of LCD, Xiaomi has swapped it out for an AMOLED screen and it will be keeping its 2160×1080 resolution. It will also be using an Iris mobile video processor from Pixelworks that will help improve on picture quality, such as being able to scale up SDR content to HDR.

It will be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and will come with 6-10GB of RAM, depending on your configuration. There will also be 128GB or 256GB of storage, a 4,000mAh battery, and light strips on the side of the phone that can be customized according to your needs. There’s even a hardware button that helps activate performance mode.

There will also be a Gamer Studio feature that lets user tweak processor, touch, display, network, and more, to help gamers optimize their device for the game that they are playing. Xiaomi has also announced that there will be gamepad attachments that kind of turn the phone into a Nintendo Switch of sorts. As for availability, the phone will be launched in China later this month where it will be priced starting at around $460 for the base model.
