One of the things that Amazon did early on with Alexa was open it up to third-party developers. This is versus other companies such as Apple, who kept Siri closed off to developers for the longest time. This openness also meant that developers could integrate Alexa into all kinds of devices, like the Big Mouth Billy Bass.

If you’re looking for a gag gift or a novelty gift for the holiday season, then you might be interested to learn that Gemmy Industries has taken the Big Mouth Billy Bass (that singing, flopping fish) and given it smarts by integrating Alexa into it. As Android Police notes, this is actually not the first time the fish has been integrated with Alexa. A couple of years ago the device was hacked to do just that, but now it looks like it is official and anyone can get their hands on it.

According to the product description, “Manage your life and daily details in the most fun way imaginable—with Alexa and a talking fish! Curious about traffic and your commute? Want to dance to your favorite song in Amazon Music? Have a silly question or statement? Just ask Alexa and Big Mouth Billy Bass will lip sync the answer or dance to the beat.” It will also pair with other Echo devices. At $40 it doesn’t seem like too much to ask so if you love novelty items, this could definitely be worth a look.
