The Lion King is without a doubt a classic in the true sense of the word. That’s why there has been a lot of anticipation for the remake that Disney has been working on. It has finally released the first teaser for the remake of this classic which came out back in 1994. The minute and a half teaser was aired during NFL’s Thanksgiving primetime game.

The teaser trailer shows us what may very well be the opening moments of this new movie. The theme is very much the same with Rafiki presenting the young Simba to the animals of the Pride Lands. The money shot of Simba being hoisted above the rock has been recreated very nicely.

The original film’s opening track titled Circle of Life plays while James Earl Jones narrates as Mufasa in the background. That’s enough to make you feel nostalgic even if the visuals don’t evoke that feeling.

Many top actors are performing voiceover duties for this film. Beyoncé voices Nala, Simba will be voiced by Donald Glover while James Earl Jones returns as Mufasa. Hans Zimmer is back to score the new film while Elton John will be reworking some of his compositions for the original film.

Disney’s The Lion King is scheduled for release next year, July 19th to be precise.
