If you manage a Facebook page  (or your own Facebook profile), you have the ability to moderate posts before they appear on your wall. The only problem is that for the most part, it is either all or nothing, meaning that you have to moderate all posts or allow all posts to go through.

However according to researcher Jane Manchun Wong, it seems that Facebook could be testing out new filters that will actually allow users to block posts with certain phrases or words from appearing on their wall. This means that if you’d rather not go through the hassle of moderating all posts and comments, you can set it up in such a way where posts with certain words or phrases won’t show up on your wall for everyone to see.

That being said, it should be pointed out that this does not prevent the post from being posted. Instead posts that contain the word or phrase that you’ve filtered will still show up, but only the person who posted it, and their friends can see it, meaning that it is still visible to a certain degree.

This can be useful if you want to ignore the trolls and haters as they can post all they like, but you will never see it (assuming they don’t somehow manage to get past the filters). However this feature is in testing so it is unclear if and when Facebook plans on rolling out in full, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for when it happens.
