Quite a few manufacturers have now started rolling out the Android Pie update for compatible devices. Some big names like Samsung are still missing from the list, though, but that company is running a beta program now ahead of the launch for the Galaxy S9 in January. HTC has joined the list today with the HTC U11 Life becoming its first handset to get the Android Pie update.

The HTC U11 Life was launched with Android Nougat last year but it quickly received an update to Android Oreo. Merely a few months after Google released Android Pie to the public, HTC is now rolling out the latest iteration of the mobile OS for this device. It even beat out the HTC U12+ which is the company’s current flagship smartphone.

HTC does have other smartphones in its lineup that are also compatible with Android 9. The company is yet to reveal precisely when those devices will get this update. Now that it has released Pie for the HTC U11 Life, it goes to show that the process is underway and that it may not be long before those devices get the update as well.

The other devices that are set to receive the update are the HTC U11, U11+, and the U12+. It may be a few months before the company sends out this update for these smartphones.
