Blizzard has taken a lot of flak for Diablo Immortal but that’s not going to force it to put other mobile projects on the back burner. A new report suggests that Blizzard is already working on a Warcraft mobile game. The title will reportedly take inspiration from Niantic’s augmented reality hit Pokemon Go.

Blizzard’s incubation team is reportedly developing this Warcraft mobile game. This department was formed when its co-founder Allen Adham returned a couple of years ago. It’s the very same department that worked on Diablo Immortal as well.

The decision to take inspiration from Pokemon Go for this title apparently came from lead designer Cory Stockton who is a true fan of the franchise. Blizzard may have also come to the realization that such a spinoff might result in substantial revenues for the company.

It’s also mentioned in the report that even though a team at Blizzard will be focused on this mobile game, that’s not going to get in the way of the development of Diablo’s next iteration. It’s said to be darker than Diablo III and has a part of the main team working on it. However, it may be a while before we get to see this title, as the next major installment in the Diablo franchise isn’t expected to arrive until 2020 or even later.
