Xiaomi is one of the fastest growing smartphone vendors on the planet and what makes its achievement more impressive is that the company has been able to achieve this position without officially launching its devices in the United States. It certainly has plans to expand into the country but will be taking its time in doing so. Xiaomi has announced a taster event which will take place in New York on December 8th where it may show off some of its devices.
A representative for Xiaomi has announced on Reddit that the company will be conducting an event on December 8th in New York City. The post was from Xiaomi’s Operational Project Manager for the North America region, Aaron Yang. The time and location will be confirmed at a later date.
This isn’t one of those press events that’s closed off to the public. The company wants fans to sign up for an invite through a Google form. Those who receive an invite will be able to experience some of Xiaomi’s latest products and get a chance to meet the team, special guests, and “notable celebrities.”
The event is an indication that Xiaomi is serious about the U.S. market even though it hasn’t shared its plans of expanding its products to this lucrative market. Perhaps we might see that happen in the next year or so.
