Fitbit is rolling out a new version of its operating system today. Fitbit OS 3.0 is out for the Ionic and Versa watches starting today. It brings several improvements for the devices, including but not limited to additional support for third-party apps. In addition to supporting new third-party apps, the update allows for easier tracking of a few other health metrics.

With Fitbit OS 3.0, Ionic and Versa watch owners will easily be able to log their sleep, water intake, and weight directly from the watch itself. They will no longer be required to open the app on their smartphone to log these metrics.

Some of the new third-party apps that are supported with this iteration of the operating system include Achu Health and Couch to 5K. The latter is a popular training program that guides runners that are just starting out to eventually compete in a long distance race. The app will also be able to show the users’ daily exercise goals on the watch itself.

Fitbit is rolling out the latest iteration of its software update for the Ionic and Versa smartwatches. It won’t be available for the Charge 3. It did say previously that the Charge 3 would get an update in 2019 which will expand the female health tracking feature to show additional data.
