Smartphone addiction is a very real thing and there are many who can’t seem to put their phones down. Companies like Apple, Facebook, and Google have come up with various tools to let users restrict themselves or their kids and also highlight how long they’ve been on their phones, but how helpful these tools are is still unclear.

However Vitamin Water thinks they might have the solution and are betting $100,000 that users can’t stay off their phones for a year. The company has basically issued a challenge in which if you are interested, you can take part and stay off your phone for an entire year, in which if you are successful in doing so, you will walk away with a cool $100,000.

It is unclear as to how they will monitor your phone usage, but if you are successful, there will be a $100,000 prize waiting for you at the end of it. The rules state that you cannot use a smartphone or tablet belonging to someone else either, but computers like desktops and laptops are okay. Smart devices like the Amazon Echo or Google Home are still okay to be used.

There also seems to be a consolation prize of sorts where if you can last at least six months, you walk away with $10,000 instead. If this sounds like something you might be interested in, head on over to Vitamin Water’s website for the details. Submissions to enter the competition will be open until the 8th of January, 2019.
