The News Feed is at the center of your Facebook experience. You can endlessly scroll it to find posts from your friends, Pages that you follow, and groups that you’re a member of. Sometimes, you might see posts in News Feed and wonder why you’re seeing it when it doesn’t interest you at all. Facebook is always working to improve News Feeds’ personalization for each user and the company is now expanding that further with a new feature called “Why am I seeing this post?”

Facebook says that it has introduced this feature to help users better understand and easily control what they see in their News Feed. This is the first time that it has built information on how ranking works in News Feed directly into the app.

This feature thus shows information about why a specific post has been ranked in your News Feed. Tapping on the relevant button in the post will provide context about why the post has surfaced and provide users with additional options to further personalize what they see in their News Feed.

This feature can be accessed from the drop down menu in the right hand corner of a post. It explains how a user’s past interactions impact the ranking of posts in their News Feed. It will include shortcuts to See First, Unfollow, News Feed Preferences, and Privacy Shortcuts so that users can make the required tweaks for a better-personalized experience.
