Sony has already confirmed that it’s working on its next-generation console. The company has also pointed out that the console won’t be out before next year. A new report about the price and release date of the PlayStation 5 suggests that the console is going to be released in November next year for $499.

Respected Sony analyst Hideki Yasuda predicts that Sony is going to release its next-generation gaming console in November 2020. He also predicts in his latest quarterly analysis report for the Ace Research Institute that the console will be priced at $499.

The analyst also predicts a strong start for the PlayStation 5 when it does arrive. Sony is expected to sell six million units of the PS5 in the first year alone followed by 15 million units in the second year.

Sony has seen considerable success with the PlayStation 4 so the expectation would obviously be that its successor ends up performing as well, if not better, when it goes on sale. Whether or not that will actually happen remains to be seen. From what’s known about the console so far, it’s going to feature an AMD Ryzen CPU with eight cores based on the company’s new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. It also gets a new Radeon GPU that’s capable of ray tracing, SSD storage, and custom 3D audio.
