The God of War franchise has been quite a staple in Sony’s PlayStation-exclusive line for years now, and with the last release, Sony attempted something different by introducing a new character to the game in the form of Kratos’ son. It proved to be a good idea because the game was extremely well-received and won a prize at the Game Awards.

For those who love to see what goes on behind-the-scenes during game development and want to know what the game’s designers and developers were thinking, Sony has since released the “Raising Kratos” documentary on YouTube where you can watch it for free in its entirety.

According to the description, “Raising Kratos documents the five-year, herculean effort to reinvent one of the greatest stories in gaming, God of War. Facing an unknown future, Santa Monica Studio took a massive risk, fundamentally changing their beloved franchise and re-establishing their rightful place in video game history.”

The game was in development for five years so this documentary is understandably meaty as no doubt there were a lot of changes and decisions that were made over the years. We should note that the documentary runs for about 2 hours so you should probably get comfortable, grab some popcorn, and sit back and relax.
