There have been many instances in the past of people who have suddenly gone missing and disappeared seemingly without a trace. That was the case with Wiliam Earl Moldt, who back in November 1997, went missing. The initial reports revealed that Moldt had called his girlfriend at 9:30PM at night, letting her know he would be leaving the club soon and heading home.

Moldt was then reported to have left the club at 11PM and while one might assume a couple of scenarios, apparently Moldt was not intoxicated and he had left alone, but yet for some reason, he just never made it home. It seemed like a case that just could not be solved, until Google Earth was used by a property surveyor.

According to the property surveyor, they noticed something odd about the retention pond in a housing development in Wellington, Florida, and upon zooming in, discovered a car inside of it. The police who arrived at the scene and pulled the car out of the water claimed that it was heavily calcified and that there were skeletal remains, which were later identified by a coroner as Moldt.

Speaking to the BBC, it was speculated that perhaps Moldt might have lost control of his car on the way home and drove into the pond. According to police spokeswoman Therese Barbera, “You can’t determine what happened that many years ago, what transpired. All we know is that he went missing off the face of the Earth, and now he’s been discovered.”
