As some of you might have heard, Huawei is currently placed on the US government’s Entity List. Companies that have been placed on this list are basically banned from doing business with US companies. This clearly puts Huawei in a bind as they do rely on hardware and software in its various products and services that are made by companies in the US.

The good news for Huawei is that it looks like the company might have gotten a bit of a reprieve as Microsoft has recently been granted a license to resume selling software to the company. For those unfamiliar, while Huawei is on the Entity List, the US government has allowed companies to apply for licenses to do business with Huawei, and Microsoft has been granted said license.

Presumably this means that Microsoft will be able to supply Huawei with software such as Windows and Office, so future Huawei laptops should not be affected by Huaweui being placed on the Entity List. That being said, it seems that Google has yet to be granted their license to do business with Huawei again.

This is a bit worrying as Huawei’s future mobile phones could still not come with Google Play Services preinstalled. The Huawei Mate 30 series is the first “casualty” of this but hopefully Google will receive their license soon.
