bmw android auto

BMW already had the integration for Apple CarPlay. However, the integration for Android Auto in a BMW car was not there.

Now, BMW has finally decided to integrate Android Auto.

Even though it is good news – it is not happening this year. You will have to wait until July 2020 to see BMW integrating Android Auto into its cars.

In addition to the announcement of integration, they also mentioned that BMW cars will have wireless support for Android Auto.

So, you no longer have to plug in your smartphone to load up Android Auto on your car to make it work. It will be completely wireless.

It is worth noting that only the vehicles with iDrive software version 7.0 along with the ‘Live Cockpit Professional‘ hardware will be getting the Android Auto integration.

In other words, you need to have the latest series 3/5/7/8 sedan cars or the X series SUV car of 2019/2020 to be eligible for the Android Auto integration.

This might be disappointing to some – but if the wireless support is to be considered, they had no other option.

Maybe, they would end up adding Android Auto without the wireless support for their older cars? What do you think about it?
