As per tradition, Google has released the developer preview for its upcoming Android 12 update. Android 12 represents the next major update to the Android operating system and the release of the developer preview should help clue us in as to some of the potential upcoming features of the operating system.

Do note that since this is a developer preview, non-developers won’t be able to install it just yet. Google does note that they do plan on opening up the beta to Android 12 later on, but there are currently no specific dates yet. This beta is where non-developers will be able to get in on the action.

Now, obviously there are going to be a lot of big changes as well as small ones made to Android with Android 12. This includes changes to the notifications where Google will be redesigning the layout to improve the amount of information being shown. It also includes smoother transitions, animations, faster alerts, and more.

There will also be features like haptic feedback that can correspond to audio playback, which might be useful in games. Google also notes that they will be introducing new privacy protections, which last we heard, could be something similar to Apple’s privacy feature that can block tracking. Either way, we expect more details about Android 12 to surface in the coming weeks, so check back for more updates.
