When it comes to gaming related peripherals and accessories, HyperX is one of the brands that we’re sure you’ve come across. Now assuming that everything goes according to plan and regulators give their stamp of approval, HyperX could soon be owned by computer maker HP, giving the company a foothold in the gaming accessory market.

HP’s acquisition of HyperX will cost the company $425 million, but HP seems to think it’s a worthwhile investment as they claim that based on the data, the global peripherals market is expected to grow to a whopping $12.2 billion in 2024, meaning that acquiring HyperX would help them gain a slice of that very lucrative pie.

HP is no stranger when it comes to gaming as the company has churned out gaming computers in the past under its Omen brand. They have also created their own gaming-centric accessories like monitors, so acquiring HyperX doesn’t seem entirely out of the ordinary.

According to HP’s President and CEO, Enrique Lores, “We continue to advance our leadership in Personal Systems by modernizing compute experiences and expanding into valuable adjacencies. We see significant opportunities in the large and growing peripherals market, and the addition of HyperX to our portfolio will drive new sources of innovation and growth for our business.”
