If you’ve watched TikTok videos, you might have noticed how some of them are narrated by a robotic-sounding voice. It is kind of charming in its own way, and it looks like Instagram will be borrowing that feature with their own text-to-speech tool that will allow Reels creators to create videos and have a robotic voice to narrate their videos.

According to Instagram, “Attention Reels creators! We know that using sound and audio are one of the funnest aspects of creating a 🔥 Reel! So today we’re launching two new audio tools called Voice Effects and Text to Speech.”

Using the feature is really easy, all users need to do is launch Instagram, go to their Reels, enter the text via the textbox feature, and then select the option that turns it into speech and they’re done. It’s not surprising that Instagram is introducing this feature. The company is aggressively going after TikTok with Reels.

The company had also previously stated that their algorithms will also no longer promote videos that might have the TikTok watermark. Given that some creators create TikTok videos and then upload the same video to Instagram, we suppose Instagram wanted creators to use Reels to highlight its capabilities instead of just being another reupload.
