Have you ever tried to make a decision in a group chat? It can get pretty messy, especially if people are randomly chiming in with things that aren’t related to the question. The good news is that if you use WhatsApp, you’ll soon be able to create a poll that members of the group can participate in.

This is according to a report from WABetaInfo in which they discovered that WhatsApp is currently developing a polls feature for its iOS app (we imagine that Android should eventually get it as well). This will let members of a chat group create a poll and pose it to the group chat, and members of the group can then vote on it.

So for example if you’re trying to decide where to go for dinner, or what movie to watch, or where to go on holiday, creating a poll lets you get answers to that question. It’s also a lot cleaner compared to people manually voicing out their opinions. Not much else is known about the feature for now other than it’s a poll, so we’ll have to wait for the final release to get a better idea.

WhatsApp isn’t the first to come up with the idea of creating polls in messenger apps. Other platforms such as Telegram have long supported the creation of polls, so if anything, WhatsApp is kind of late to the party, but better late than never we suppose.
