Today Xiaomi officially launched its flagship 17 Series for the global market. Debuting just before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, the lineup consists of two primary models: the Xiaomi 17 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
Hardware and Performance
Xiaomi 17 Ultra
Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Built on a 3nm process, this chipset focuses on high-efficiency performance and integrated AI capabilities. The series runs on HyperOS 3, based on Android 16, which aims to improve ecosystem connectivity and animation fluidity.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra in White color
The standard Xiaomi 17 features a 6.3-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Notably, it houses a 6,330mAh battery that supports 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. The Ultra variant scales further in memory and storage, offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal capacity.
Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max
The Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max remain exclusive to the Chinese market. These models distinguish themselves with a unique secondary rear display—measuring 2.7 inches on the Pro and 2.9 inches on the Max—located adjacent to the camera module. This external panel allows users to view notifications, manage music playback, and use the high-performance 50MP triple-rear camera system for superior quality selfies and video recording.
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max vs. 17 Pro (Exclusive for China)
Under the hood, both devices utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The Pro model features a 6.3-inch primary display and a 6,300 mAh battery, while the Pro Max scales up to a 6.9-inch screen and a substantial 7,500 mAh battery.
Despite these impressive specifications and the novelty of the rear interface, there are currently no plans for an official North American release. US enthusiasts interested in the series will find that only the base Xiaomi 17 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra are designated for global distribution, though even these models typically lack official US carrier support and warranties.

Imaging and Design
Continuing the brand’s partnership with Leica, the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra models also utilize Leica-branded triple rear camera systems designed for enhanced color accuracy and low-light performance. The brand also released a special edition of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra named Leitzphone.
