At MWC 2026, Lenovo showcased several experimental devices exploring new form factors, including the Legion Go Fold Concept, a prototype that reimagines what a portable gaming handheld could look like. Designed as an evolution of the Legion Go platform, the concept blends foldable display technology with detachable controllers, aiming to create a more adaptable gaming device for players who want console-style experiences while traveling.

Lenovo’s approach focuses on versatility: the device features a POLED display that expands from 7.7 inches to 11.6 inches, allowing it to function as both a traditional handheld and a larger portable gaming screen when unfolded.

When folded, the device behaves like a conventional handheld console with controllers attached to each side of the 7.7-inch display. However, the foldable screen opens up several additional usage modes that go beyond typical handheld gaming.

Lenovo designed the concept around four main operating modes:

  • Standard Handheld Mode: The compact 7.7-inch display with controllers attached provides a standard handheld gaming experience when space is limited.
  • Vertical Split-Screen Mode: The foldable display can open vertically, allowing players to game on one portion of the screen while streaming, browsing guides, or watching walkthrough videos on the other.
  • Horizon Full-Screen Mode: Rotating the unfolded screen and reattaching the controllers enables gaming across the full 11.6-inch display, creating a much larger portable gaming canvas.
  • Expanded Desktop Mode: The concept can also function more like a portable PC by pairing the device with a wireless keyboard with an integrated touchpad, allowing users to game, browse, or work.

Under the hood, the Legion Go Fold Concept is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor paired with 32GB of RAM and a 48Wh battery, providing enough performance to run demanding PC titles while also handling multitasking scenarios such as streaming or browsing alongside gameplay.

The controllers also introduce some unusual features. Like recent Legion Go devices, the right controller can function as a vertical mouse for FPS-style control schemes. It also includes a small built-in display that acts as a touchpad, performance monitor, and customizable shortcut interface, providing quick access to settings without interrupting gameplay.

The Legion Go Fold Concept is one of our Ubergizmo’s Best of MWC winners.
