An HR consultant has successfully resolved a legal dispute over a £7000 (~$9,231.14) in an English court using an artificial intelligence platform. The tool, known as Garfield AI, was utilized throughout the proceedings, showcasing the effectiveness of a hybrid model that combines automated assistance with human legal representation to minimize overall expenditures.
The legal strategy integrated the Garfield AI software during the preparatory phase of the case, while a human lawyer provided representation during the actual court hearing. A major highlight of this approach is the substantial reduction in legal fees, as employing the technology costs approximately £400 (~$527). This cost-efficiency enabled the recovery of the £7,000 debt—an amount that individuals frequently abandon due to the traditionally high legal fees associated with pursuing such claims through standard litigation.
Tamires Camal Taquidir, the HR consultant involved in the case, noted that while she was owed money for completed work, she initially felt that the recovery process would be overly stressful, expensive, and time-consuming. She credited the platform with making the pursuit of the claim feasible. During the process, Garfield AI was responsible for key administrative and analytical tasks, including organizing notifications, drafting structured legal documents, and formulating technical counterarguments against the opposing party’s claims.
The AI tool is currently authorized for use in legal disputes involving amounts up to £10,000 (~$13,187.25). Its primary objective is to democratize access to the justice system by providing an affordable option for financially less complex cases. In addition to reducing expenses, the technology successfully accelerated the debt collection timeline, creating a significantly less stressful and time-consuming legal experience for the claimant. This successful outcome highlights a growing trend toward automation in the legal sector, offering a more accessible pathway for individuals seeking to resolve minor financial disputes without incurring prohibitive costs.
