Android 5.1.1 is the last major iteration of Google’s mobile platform prior to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and while OEMs and carriers take their sweet time in putting together this update, at least one device on the nation’s second largest carrier is making the jump from Android 5.0 to Android 5.1.1. AT&T is now rolling out Android 5.1.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop update is rolling out to more Samsung devices with each passing day. Initially the focus was on recent flagship models and now that they’ve all been taken care of, the spotlight is now on other variants as well as mid-range devices. AT&T subscribers who own a Galaxy S5 Active or the Galaxy Alpha should keep their eyes open for an update notification today as the carrier has […]
Earlier this morning, we did hear about how T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy Note 3 would be on the receiving end of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update at long last, and it seems that devices are getting Lollipop-ped left, right and center – with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active being the latest device to do so, or at least, it is about to be on the receiving end.
If you are an AT&T subscriber with a Galaxy S5 Active you might want to check your smartphone for a software update. The carrier has rolled out a new update for Galaxy S5 Active. Before you get all excited let me clarify that this isn’t the much awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The carrier has actually released Android 4.4.4 for this device. Those who had their fingers crossed for Lollipop […]
Think of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active (released May 2014, listed at $659 without contract by AT&T) as a stronger, tougher cousin of the Galaxy S5 (released April 2014). The Galaxy S5 Active dropped its predecessor S5’s fingerprint sensor, a security feature to augment the usual password protection. The effectiveness of the current fingerprint technology deployed by smartphone makers is debatable. (See “Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone fingerprint sensor hacked,” The […]
Samsung has a knack for releasing an “Active” variant of its flagship smartphone. Just recently the Galaxy S5 Active was officially announced. It hasn’t done that for tablets as yet but if a new rumor is to be believed that it may not be too far off. Samsung has applied for the trademark “Samsung Galaxy Tab4 Active” hinting at the possibility that an IP-certified variant of this tablet might be […]
Well, we certainly have had our fair share of Samsung Galaxy S5 Active image leaks in the past week alone, so much so that such news has already gotten old, and fast. Here we are with official word from AT&T that the are going to deliver the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active to the masses from today onward, where you can pick it up via online channels or over at AT&T […]
It really wouldn’t surprise anyone to see Samsung launch multiple variants of its Galaxy S5 flagship because that is exactly what it has being doing for the last couple of years. Even though the 2014 flagship is both water and dust resistant the company is still expected to release an “Active” variant of the Galaxy S5. Apparently it’ll be even more rugged, following in the footsteps of the Galaxy S4 Active. Today a […]
The leaks about Samsung’s many Galaxy S5 variants don’t stop coming in. As always the Korean juggernaut is expected to launch multiple variants of this year’s flagship. The Galaxy S5 Active is almost certainly at the top of the list. This rugged variant may not be that far off and if a recent rumor is to be believed AT&T might carry it in the U.S. AT&T also carried the Galaxy S4 Active so this […]
Recently we got to take an extensive look at Samsung’s ruggedized Galaxy S5 which hasn’t been officially announced as yet. There have already been countless leaks about this device but the momentum doesn’t seem to be slowing down. A new video has surfaced online which shows that the Galaxy S5 Active is going to have a dedicated hardware key located next to the volume keys.
Yes, much has been said about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 Active which would certainly have gotten people out there thinking – just how much different will this particular smartphone be compared to the Galaxy S5 which is already waterproof to a certain extent? After all, that was a gulf in safety standards between the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy S4 Active, but what would separate the Galaxy S5 Active […]
We have been hearing about the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active for quite a while now, although we are admittedly curious as to what it could feature. The Galaxy S4 Active features both water and dust resistance, features that have already been made available on the Galaxy S5, so what could Samsung do to differentiate the Galaxy S5 Active from the Galaxy S5? Well according to recently leaked photos, perhaps ruggedness […]
A new variant of the Samsung Galaxy S5 certainly won’t surprise anyone. Over the past few weeks we have been constantly hearing about the Galaxy S5 Active. It will essentially be a much more rugged iteration of this year’s flagship. Samsung released a similar variant for the Galaxy S4 last year so it won’t be nothing new. The SM-G870 model of this smartphone has appeared online in the GFXBench benchmark database giving us […]
There has been plenty of talk about the yet unannounced Samsung Galaxy S5 Active smartphone, which is rather strange since the handset has yet to be officially released. Still, whispers in the past do point to AT&T picking up the equivalent in the form of model number SM-G870A, while Sprint is touted to offer the Galaxy S5 Active as the SM-G860. It does seem as though our friends living across […]
