Embryo Solar And Wind Powered Street Lamps

If you think solar power might not be enough to power a street lamp, why not add in a wind turbine, then it’ll also collect the wasted energy of all the wind blowing about. That’s what this Embryo street lamp designed by Harsha Vardhan does, as it harvests solar energy from the photovoltaic cell at the top of the lamp, which the wind turbine will generate energy from the wind that flows around. The blades of the wind turbine are made from carbon fiber enforced plastic, and the lamp itself uses energy-efficient LEDs. The generator is housed at the bottom of the structure, as is the battery that will store excess energy for later use. It wouldn’t surprise anybody if this design becomes common in street lamps of the future.
