With many folks increasingly relying on Google Docs and Gmail to get their work done, it’s easy to forget whether the document you’re looking for is in your email as an attachment, or is saved in Google Docs. Google might have a solution for you, via the “App Search” lab feature (which you can enable in the Gmail Labs settings). This feature changes the default “Search Mail” button to “Search Mail and Docs” instead, and search results will be returned showing the results from documents and email messages. In case you’re worried about performance, the mail results should show up just as fast (according to Google), while the non-email results might take a tad longer, so your normal email searches won’t be negatively affected.
