LG has just announced the SmartDiagnosis – a self-diagnosis technology that will see action in upcoming washing machines and dryers from LG (naturally, where else did you think it will pop up?). This LG-developed innovation will enable customer service representatives to troubleshoot mechanical issues over the phone efficiently and speedily. This will in turn limit costly, inconvenient service calls and in-home visits. SmartDiagnosis makes troubleshooting less of a pain, since consumers who call in the LG customer service center will be able to press select buttons on the laundry unit, where that will trigger a series of diagnostic tones.
Each tone will correspond with a specific potential maintenance need, and trained service technicians on the other end of the line will be able to identify the proble, letting them evaluate the information received while delivering relevant feedback. You will be able to find the SmartDiagnosis feature on LG’s latest front-load SteamWasher with 6Motion Technology (models WM3875 and WM3885), as well as the company’s first top-load Wave Series washer (models WT5101 and WT5001), and matching dryers of course. We hope to see this technology applied to other household appliances, although it won’t phase out irritatingly long waiting times when you call a bank’s help line. Strangely enough, if you’re late on your payments, the bank seemingly calls you on the dot. [Press Release]
