Iomega External USB 3.0 SSD drive launched

Iomega has just announced an external USB 3.0 SSD (Solid state Drive) flash disk that is aimed at professionals and storage enthusiasts. The sleek looking 1.8″ storage device is encased in aluminum and the very nature of solid state storage should make it very resistant to shocks. Available in 64GB ($229), 128GB ($399) or 256GB ($749), this drive should provide enough storage for those who can afford it. But with that amount of data, comes the fear of losing it. Iomega has understood this and has equipped the Iomega External USB 3.0 SSD with built-in encryption (there’s no software to install) that should keep the average thug away from your stuff. In fact, the real value of this SSD comes from the software that is included: v.Clone, a powerful PC cloning system. QuikProtect, a Backup software, Retrospect, another backup software for Mac and PC. Of course, there are cheaper ways to store data, but the Iomega External USB 3.0 SSD has an impressive blend of compactness + capacity + software.
