The XBMC team is more than happy, nay, proud, to let the world know that their first ARM-based release is finally out. Scott Davilla who has enlisted the help of several other developers and testers is more than ready to let loose his creation to the world – letting XBMC run on the new Apple TV, the iPad as well as the iPhone 4. You will be able to enjoy the full fruits of the XBMC installs and source code here. OK, we understand that some of you out there might be lost and wonder just what the heck is XBMC? This is an award-winning free and open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub for digital media, where it is also available on Linux, OS X, Windows and the original Xbox platforms. No prizes for guessing that the XBMC will not be caught in action at the App Store anytime soon, and you will need to apply a jailbreak to your device beforehand. Anyone given it a go yet?
