Sony ups the ante when it comes to read and write speeds in memory cards with their new Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX, which will come in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities. Their impressive storage space is not what caught our attention – it is the 50MB/s data transfer rate during tests by Sony that made us drop everything we were doing and scrutinize it further. This is more than a decent jump from its predecessor, and it ought to keep those Memory Stick reliant gizmos working happily at least for a little while more, considering the fact that SD (Secure Digital) is more or less the de facto standard when it comes to memory cards these days. Heck, even Sony has relented in the past years to include SD memory card slots into their devices which were once Memory Stick only.
