Rookcase turns old books into functional tablet covers

Rookcase

While we’re all for going green, sometimes we can’t help but miss the feeling of holding a regular paperback or hardcover novel in our hands. Well, an Etsy artist named Heather Schnelle has come up with a solution – by hollowing out old books and turning them into cases instead. Designed to hold all sorts of tablets such as the iPad and Nook as well as eBook readers like the Kindle, these handmade cases breathe life into old books that haven’t been touched anymore and serve no purpose beyond collecting dust on bookshelves.

Each case comes with a cushioned, custom one-piece birch tray with a strap for you to keep your tablet or eBook reader from falling out. You can even ask for an optional notch to hold an M-Edge reading light for those of you who like reading in the dark. Head over to the Rookcase shop on Etsy if you’d like to get your hands on one of these sweet looking cases. Prices start from $36.99 onwards.
