Roku does Angry Birds now with casual gaming involvement

Casual games are clearly one of the more popular apps that you see installed across a wide range of platforms, ranging from tablets to smartphones and computers. Well, Roku’s range of boxes have certainly gone through some revisions over time and improved in many aspects, moving on from just streaming Netflix originally. Roku now intends to make the foray into casual gaming, and one of the surefire titles to kick off this intention would be to offer Angry Birds – after all, most mobile platforms already offer this title regardless of operating system allegiance, so why not bring it right into your living room this time around?

Details are still scant, but the gaming experience will be out on a new player that will roll out later this summer, and it remains to be seen whether current Roku hardware is compatible with games in a retro manner. According to Roku CEO Anthony Wood, “Just as we were the first to enable Netflix to stream instantly to the TV, we intend to be the catalyst for transforming the way people play casual games-starting with Angry Birds-on the biggest screen in the home”.
