When it comes to performance and price on a notebook, the general rule of thumb is this – the better the performance, the higher the price. Heck, come to think of it, isn’t that the case with everything else in life? Yes sir, notebooks too are no exception, and Asus’ latest effort in Japan would be the Asus U24E that surprisingly won’t burn too large a hole in your pocket. Listen, for roughly the equivalent of $770 (after conversion), you will get an Intel Core i5-2430M processor that is accompanied by an 11.6″ display at 1,366 x 768 resolution. To maintain the initial upbeat mood, you will also find 4GB RAM, a 750GB hard drive, a couple of USB 3.0 ports, and HDMI out, all crammed into a chassis that tips the scales at a mere 1.5kg.

Oh yeah, did we mention that this puppy also comes with a 7-hour rated battery life? It would be interesting to see whether the Asus U24E will ever make its way across the Pacific, but as the old saying goes, hope springs eternal.
